"Congratulations" Avon Athletic under 12's B have won division 3 of Avon Youth League. This is the second season in a row that they have been promoted. Pucklechurch 0 Avon Athletic B 2
This was a hard fought 3 points for Avon who found it tough going against a
combative Pucklechurch side. The home team defended in depth and, in the
second half in particular, were quick to deny Avon space and time on the
ball.
Despite this, Avon still managed to claim the victory. Two good goals
separated the teams, the first came directly from Ciaran Furzland's
in swinging corner which, though the keeper got his fingertips to it, still
found the top corner of the net - his third goal direct from a corner this
season. The second came from a well worked move which ended when Dan
Davison's pass split the defence for Isaac Smith to steal in from the right
wing and cut the ball back across the keeper and into the corner of the
goal. In a scrappy game Avon's midfield matched Pucklechurch in winning the
second ball and both Adam Cockburn at right back and Nick Sibanda in central
midfield worked particularly hard to help ensure another clean sheet for
Avon.
Avon's men of the match were Cockburn and Sibanda.
